1. Information about the competition

Junior – the competition of young fashion designers

Junior is a creative competition of students of secondary schools and colleges, which takes place within the program FASHION POINT. It concerns fantasy creative works and it has been enunciated once a year since 1996. All artists between the ages of 16 and 26 can enter this competition. Their task is to create an original collection consisting of three models in the category of clothing or footwear. Every year the competition JUNIOR has its motto, which is reflected in the works of young designers. For the newly advertised year 2005, the upcoming theme will be known after final evening Rendez-vous. The condition is that the design must be introduced for the first time.

The collection is judged by the Fashion academy in three rounds. The first round of the competition consists of works, which are introduced in the form of sketches and about 40 competitors advance to the second round, where they have to defend their designs in the form of an elaborated model. The Fashion academy chooses about 20 competitors from the second round, who present themselves at the final gala evening, and the best 3 in the category of clothing and footwear are enunciated the holders of the title JUNIOR. The final evening JUNIOR 2005 will take place at PRAGUE FASHION WEEK in spring 2005; a part of this presentation is an exhibition of sketches, which were created by the finalists of the competition. Every year, this competition is entered by almost a hundred of young designers from approximately twenty secondary schools and colleges, mainly from the Czech Republic, but also from Slovakia and Germany.
